Matt Cutts, Googles frontman to the SEO World and that of the webmaster provides information and tips as to how Google's algorythms work.. or does he? Some things the man says just dont make sense, and they certainly don't appear to be integral to Googles practices. Check his Youtube Blog for examples of how this man can intentionally mislead and mask information.
Googles raison d'être, its entire reason for being, is to provide results to the visitor. It prides itself on the information it gives to good quality and relevant sites, which will be of interest to the user. Once it begins to fail to do this, it loses its edge against its competitors. Of course, this will never happen now as Google is simply too large, but that doesnt stop it from tyring to improve it's service constantly.
Matt Cutts (googles SEO spokesperson) Youtube Log gives webmasters information and tips to present their websites to google in the best way possible. Most of these tips are mundane and common sense, some are technical, some make no sense whatsoever.
Matt Cutts is Google's wizard of Oz.
Why? Well, if Matt Cutts spoke about google's actual algorythms, what goes on behind the scenes, and what they actually use to distingish good search results, what would the outcome be? Thousands of Professional SEO's implementing the suggestions directly, and the result would be chaos in the serps. Manipulated search results and companies appearing inthe top ten directly based on the strength of their SEO knowledge and experience. The 'natural' ranking of google would disappear overnight.
So, what does google do instead? It provides Matt Cutts, the spokesman of google, to present mundance, average, and potentially misleading information to all who choose to watch him. Matt Cutts skirts round issues, and never gives the real story.
Many SEO's believe what Mat Cutts say 100%, and take his word as Gospel. Make your own mind up. If you were the biggest SEarch Engine in existence, and one of the planets biggest brands, would you risk all by telling everyone how you do it? No, neither would I
