Facebook links and google

Its no secret now that facebook links are counted in google. Burton SEO first noticed this in september 2009, during the testing phase and three months before the rollout. At that point, all links were coming from facebook.co.jp, the japanese language version of facebook.

So how much weight does google assign to the links? The answer (according to the official google fibber, matt cuts) is exactly the same as any other link, ie based on pagerank of the linking page. S what does this mean to the facebook promoters? Well, if you're a standard member or a fan page with a few links, not a lot. But , on the other hand, if you can come up with one a page that thousands of people will join or link to, you'll gain a powerful link.
